The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art was founded by Eric Carle and his wife Barbara and first incoprorated in 2001.The museum was then opened onNovemeber 22, 2002.

"The mission of The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art is to inspire, especially in children and their families, an appreciation for and an understanding of the art of the picture book. In fulfilling our mission, we aspire to build bridges to an appreciation of art of every kind and to provide an enriching, dynamic, and supportive context for the development of literacy." -as stated on the museum's official site

With over 40,000 square feet of space, the museum boasts three galleries with rotating exhibits, an auditorium, library, art studio, gift shop, and cafe. With so much to see and do in the museum, it's no surprise that since it's opening to the public there has been more than 325,000 visitors!

Hours:

Closed on Mondays

Tuesday through Friday 10 am – 4 pm

Saturday 10 am – 5 pm

Sundays 12 – 5 pm
